“One is never overdressed or underdressed in a little black dress.”

I always get excited to select which outfits I am going to wear for all of the Christmas and New Year’s festivities. These particular holidays are an excuse to dress up in stunning reds and rich greens, fur coats, gold, silver, and sparkly sequin dresses. Think anything that screams “merry and bright” and you will probably end up in a great ensemble!

Although it can be fun to wear statement pieces and colors, there is one fashion trend that you are guaranteed to feel beautiful in this holiday season: the little black dress (LBD). It has been said that a must-have for every female to own is a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down. According to Wikipedia, “Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920’s designs of Coco Chanel and Jean Patou intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible, and in a neutral color.”

An LBD is sure to flatter every body type and skin tone, and there are many ways to style them. For Christmas gatherings, try throwing on a white coat, black pumps, and dainty gold or silver jewelry. For New Year’s parties, try a fun pair of heels (rose gold pictured), and add in a bit more bling! Again, your black dress is meant to be simple, yet classy, and I assure you that you will be stunning no matter what accessories you choose to compliment it.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
