Our Note to Guys: Thankfulness

By Sarah and Selma Komisky

QUESTION: What are you thankful for when it comes to a guy in your life?

“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”

– Micah 6:8 (ESV)

This is our prayer for you.

“I thank myself daily for my guy. He is so incredibly selfless and is willing to make sacrifices daily, just to make me happy. So often it is easy for us to get stuck into a routine, and I can so easily take advantage of all he does for me! I reminded myself just the other day how important it is for me not to overlook all of the little things he does for me. I never want to take advantage! In a relationship, it is so easy to become self-centered and expect things from your significant other. I was reminded about how I need to remember to put Christ first always, put down my pride and put my guy before myself. I can see how he often chooses to love me in this fashion, and for that, I am grateful!”

“I am thankful that the man in my life is always willing to grow with me. He is always willing to work through everything to make the relationship stronger.”

“Well, since I’ve started school and joined after school activities, I’ve made new friends and some guy friends. I’m thankful for them because they’re all different and each one has a great personality, but the one thing they have in common is how they act like in some ways. They all act like the young adults we should be. They would care for any person in our group if they’re nervous or upset and they would comfort us. Just the other night before a show I started crying because we did dedications-and the director talked about me and a few other girls. I got so emotional that right after the meeting I started crying my eyes out and when I got back I told my friend Michael that I was crying and he gave me a hug and said that I was great and how it was okay that I did cry. But I’m just thankful that I’ve met them in general.”

“He loves me in spite of my faults and he shows great patience with me.  He supports me in many ways. Even after 32 years of marriage.”

“My boyfriend and dad are the most important men in my life and I am so thankful for their strength and their desire to be obedient to God’s instruction. I’m thankful for their willingness to serve and do what is right, no matter what inconvenience it may be to them in the moment.”

“I am thankful that my man loves the Lord, is hard working, and is a great cook. :)”

“What am I thankful for with the guy in my life? Well, first off, I am single, so I don’t have that ‘significant other’ to boast about, BUT I do have some pretty awesome guys friends. One in particular comes to my mind. His name is Matt and first off let me say that I am thankful for him because he is an amazing friend. He loves Jesus and really seeks to live his life for Christ. He’s the type of friend you want to have in your life because he points you to Jesus, he’s kind, open, non-judgmental; what you would hope a true friend to be. He is a youth leader and spends a lot of his time serving the youth kids that have been entrusted to his guidance and care. He goes above and beyond to show them love outside of the church setting by attending their sporting events, etc. He also is a part of various Christian organizations that share the gospel through their ministries. I can honestly say that without this friend in my life I would have no idea about some of these local organizations helping impact my city and other places for Christ. With that being said, for all these reasons and more I am thankful that God blessed me with a friend like him!”

“I’m thankful that he loves and follows Jesus…that he is a learn-ed man in the things of the Spirit and the Word Of God. That he is a man of prayer and open to the leading of the Holy Spirit in his life and the life of our family. Thank you Jesus for David and Christ in him!”

“I’m thankful for what a loving father and husband my spouse is.”

“I’m thankful that the man in my life is always willing to grow with me. He is always willing to work through everything to make the relationship stronger.”

“I’m representing the single ladies out there by saying I’m super thankful for my friends who make me laugh and are just chill. Guys sometimes are little more laid back and I’m thankful for that element of easygoingness they bring to my life. I’m also thankful for their opinions and perspectives that are different from my own. Additionally, I’m thankful for my dad who brings strength, hugs, and wisdom when I need it. My cousin has always been like a brother and every time we see each other, we pick up where we left off. Grateful for him. Ultimately, I’m thankful for THE man in my life, Jesus Christ who is my anchor and loves me unconditionally.”

“Thankful for their willingness to serve and do what is right, no matter what inconvenience it may be to them in the moment.”
