Grace in the Unknown

By McKenzi Matsick

Life is full of unknowns, isn’t it? Outside of our control, life is one big, unknown journey. We can try to predict what will happen or have a certain calling, but we have no way of knowing what God is going to unfold completely.

If you have read some of my other articles on here, you know I just moved to Nashville, TN, a little over a year ago now.

As soon as I graduated college earlier this year, or even a little beforehand, I thought for sure I would land a full-time job right upfront. I started the application process early to get a head start for interviews, etc., but in return, I have only had a few interviews and not a lot of responses from applying altogether.

What God has shown me during this season is that even amid our human-like expectations and assumptions, He still shows grace and provides in ways we never would have thought.

Instead of having a full-time job, I currently have four part-time jobs. One at a coffee shop, one is assisting a music artist and the team overall when needed, and the other two are social media related. Ideally, this isn’t what I expected, but God has continuously provided.

Whether it’s the money I am making with these jobs, support from my parents, or little drops of blessings spontaneously from loved ones, the Lord has shown time and time again, His love and care for me though there are times I worry and fear over how I’ll pay the bills, etc. He has NEVER failed.

Have you experienced something like this? Have you seen God’s grace in your deepest, hardest times?

Maybe you’ve gone through a battle or two of cancer and have overcome through healing. Perhaps a loved one is struggling to make ends meet for their family of five kids and someone blessed them with groceries or a gift card for dinner somewhere. Your car has broken down or a tire has gone flat and someone pulled off to the side of the road to help you.

Love is everywhere in many forms. Walk outside, and you’ll see God’s grace and beauty just in the simplicity of nature.

Whatever you are facing today, let this be a reminder that there is hope, grace, light, and so much more amid your unknown future.

Choose today to hand over your unknown future to our All-Knowing Father. He created you, and that alone should assure you that He will work everything out for your good and His glory. He knows you, sees you, and has called you by name. You are His.
