I am a vegan, a grant writer, and a Dave Matthews fan. My passion is saving ex-battery hens, which are spent hens previously used in commercial egg production facilities who lived crammed in dirty wire cages and who the industry disposes of at around 18 months of age. In addition to ex-battery hens, the little micro-sanctuary I have on my land is dedicated to saving, rehabilitating, and caring for other animals whose lives are in danger, such as fowl doomed to slaughter and sick, injured, and special needs birds.
