How-To: Make a Homemade Sushi Bowl
By Andrea Yim
I love food! Really. I look forward to the next thing I am going to make for breakfast, lunch or dinner and get so excited. The only problem is that I always run out of ideas! Sometimes making the same routine of dinners or lunches seems to be the easiest because you know that’s what everyone is going to eat. But venturing out lately has had so many benefits.
Exploring different options has given me a new excitement in cooking and has made me realize all the amazing health benefits of it too. God created so many different foods and gave us different seasons with different health benefits during certain times of the year. One of my most favorite foods is fish. Now, I know there are a lot of fish haters out there, but hear me out. When you find a type of fish you can bear to eat and smell, you can begin to cook it the way you like and can add many different seasonings and side foods to go perfectly with it.
Recently, my brother and his wife shared a recipe that I just had to pass along – a sushi bowl! If you can’t get into fish you can make it with chicken or even beef. This is a perfect lunch or dinner recipe that I know everyone in your household will just love!
Youtube Channel: Diego and Hollie Ortiz
2 wild alaskan salmon filets
2 cups cooked brown rice
1 cucumber chopped
1 carrot peeled and chopped
3 T liquid aminos or soy sauce
3 T Greek yogurt
pinch garlic powder
pinch smoked paprika
1/2 t liquid aminos
1/2 t maple syrup
Sprinkle salmon with sea salt and garlic powder and cook in olive oil on medium heat until the fish is well cooked. Chop veggies and put aside. To make wasabi sauce, mix wasabi and liquid aminos. For the “yum yum” sauce, take another small bowl and mix ingredients together. To assemble sushi bowl, take one cup cooked brown rice and place into serving bowl. Top with chopped cucumber, carrot, avocado, and salmon filet. Add desired amount of wasabi sauce and yum yum sauce. Eat with Chopsticks. Enjoy!
