V-Day Date Outfit Options
By Sarah Komisky
“So the King will greatly desire your beauty; Because He is your Lord, worship Him.”
– Psalm 45:11 (NKJV)
If there is one thing that rings true when it comes to Valentine’s Day outfit shopping, it is that marketers want you to look “sexy.” After searching and scrolling through countless online stores, the message rang loud and clear (can anyone say plunging necklines, cutouts, slits and tight mini-dresses?) Unlike many girls, I was frustrated. Over and over the options given to me were skimpy and seductive, objectifying rather than exemplifying the loveliness God created in me.
After a few tours of digital shopping, I was fed up with the bombarding messages from zero through plus size. Then it hit me! How much harder is it on guys when women left and right are being told these options make them pretty, seen, and wanted? If my goal was to find cute Valentine’s Date outfits, my goal was to find them but to find options where we ladies wouldn’t have to compromise our beliefs or our bodies. Women, God says you are valued and beautiful. If we choose to be the world’s version of “sexy,” we will only cheapen ourselves as we will get all the treatment that comes with that. You are more than that.
After scouring the online isles of clothing, I am pleased to share what I found from stores like Dresslily, H&M, ModCloth, Old Navy, and TJ Maxx, all who offer classy and fashionable pieces for all girls in all sizes! These outfits capture all the latest trends from fluttery sleeves, subtle shoulder cutouts, cropped leather moto jackets, and velvet, along with some timeless pieces as well. So mix and match in the various Valentine’s Day hues. Feel good, feel confident, and feel pretty in pink (or black or white) without compromising who you are. Honor God and honor your date in your outfit choice this Valentine’s Day and exude the beauty that points to Him.
