Showing Your Love Through Song

By Roselyn Barrios

Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a great year so far, especially the school year for those who have started––which should be most of you. Hopefully you are all having a great time at school, especially if you’re in high school. I am having a great time so far as a freshman and so should all of you. Everything is new there and the classes we take are different, so they should be fun. For example, I’m taking woodshop, which is something completely different for me, but it has been fun. I’m also in choir, which is a great passion of mine. I think singing is the best way to show emotion in my opinion because when you sing, you could give a message to anyone, and it could have a great impact. Singing is also a great way to show our love to the Lord.

“ Come, let us sing for joy to the LORD; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

– Psalms 95:1

Singing can show many emotions, especially love for God. If we don’t have any words to say to God or about him, you can show those emotions by singing. I know that as singers we get nervous to get it all out, but when you play or sing for someone, all your nerves will go away. Once you start singing, you can’t really stop until of the end of the song, but you wish you could go on forever because it feels so good to let it out. It is also a lot of fun because you have a talent that can inspire people and amaze them at the same time.

We cannot also amaze ourselves by the reaction we get from other people because we would never think that we could get those reactions from someone just by doing what we love. I know that God looks down on us and smiles when we sing and we sure love.

Psalms 98:1-7 says, “I’ll sing to the Lord a new song! For he has done marvelous things, his right hand and his holy arm have given him the victory. The Lord has made known his salvation, his righteousness he has revealed in the side of the nations oh sing to the Lord a new song! For he has done marvelous things, his right hand and his holy arm have gained him the victory. The Lord has made known his salvation, his righteousness he has revealed in the side of the nations.  He has remembered his mercy and his faithfulness to the house of Israel, all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth, break forth and song, rejoice, and sing praises. Sing to the Lord with the harp, with the harp and the sound of a Psalm, with trumpets and the sound of a horn. Shout joyfully before the Lord, the king. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell on it.”

To me, these verses mean that by singing and showing our love for God, it warms our heart because we all know he deserves to be praised, seen, and loved for what he’s done in our lives. I hope you all have a blessed day and a blessed year. I love you all, God bless you.
