Taking a Time Out in Our Everyday Lives

By Alyssa and Kailyn

Hey guys! Hope you are all doing well! So this month’s topic is, “Taking a Time Out.” And no I don’t mean sitting in a corner facing the wall. I mean a time to stop what you are doing and take time for yourself and God. So, both Kailyn and I are going to explain why this is important even though it can be tough.  We will also discuss some things to talk to Him about.

Why is it important to take a time out and spend time with God? God wants to have a personal relationship with all of us, but honestly how can we build a relationship with Him if we don’t take time out for Him to communicate and talk? I realize that it sounds easy and is really simple to say, but it’s actually pretty hard. Don’t think that you’re alone if you think that talking to God can be a hassle! But here are some guidelines to start off a conversation with Him.

One thing you can talk to God about is what you would want to have happen in your life. Just to let you know, even though it might not happen the way you want it to, God still wants to hear what you want. In the Bible it says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” (Mathew 7:7). This verse shows that He’s waiting for you to ask or “knock.”  He wants us to ask so we can communicate with Him! He loves you and wants you to talk with Him. But things might not turn out the way you want it to! That’s what I’m learning right now and trust me it’s hard!

In my life it is really difficult for me to take time out of my day to spend time with God. Most of the time I am busy, but now that it’s summer, I have a lot less things to do. But it is still hard for me to sit still without being distracted or allowing my mind to wander. This summer, I hope to get in the habit of taking a time out to sit down for 20 minutes a day just to dive into God’s Word. I feel like once I get into it more, the more I will spend time with God each day.

In conclusion, taking a time out and talking to God is good for you. Good for your health and your spiritual growth. If you are really busy like me, it is good for you to take a time out and take a deep breath. It will help you feel calmer and more relaxed. If you are stuck with a hard decision, take a time out and pray. God knows your future, so He knows what’s best for you.
