“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”
– Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)
Hey did you know when you start to have crushes on boys that’s okay? It just means your
growing up. Girl, it means your soon to be even cooler than you are now. You have so many things to look forward to like…. .your going to be in middle school! You’ll have your own locker. Your age will soon end in “teen.” You can start wearing make-up. Get your braces off. Get to babysit!
………………………………………
I can remember having a crush on this older boy that lived next door. I was still too young and he was in high school. He didn’t know I existed. But I sort of liked to admire him from afar you can say. I would see him everyday and would melt when he would wave to me.You know those butterfly’s you feel all over and its fun to think about him and write his name over and over on your notebook.
I didn’t tell anybody because it would be super embarrassing if somebody found out and then if they would tell somebody at school, I would just want to crawl away and hide. You know what I mean? Imagine you write a note in class and pass it to your friend and your teacher takes it away and reads it out loud to the whole class. Ugh! you get the picture.
So maybe you might not even know this boy. He might be someone you seen on TV or in a magazine. Maybe he’s a friend that your older brother or sister hangs out with and brought home. Maybe he’s your teacher, or the box boy that works at the market, or your coach.
Sometimes we imagine if they like us and how your date would be so fun. Maybe that you would be so popular among all your friends cause you dated an older guy. Maybe you would get to drive in their car. Maybe he will walk you home or text you.
One thing we need to remember is if you are a young girl and an a older guy is flirting with you is that its a danger sign. Why? First of all he’s way older. The problem is you may look older but emotionally you are younger and immature.
Friend don’t let your guy crushes take over being boy crazy and that’s all your thinking about. Be wise don’t put yourselves in situations that you could possibly be taken advantage of.
Enjoy being a cool kid, do something nice for somebody, have a sleepover with your girlfriends, pray for someone, learn how to do something new (like play an instrument), join a sports team, help out at home, take a dance class, go on a camping trip, read your Bible, bake, and enjoy being a tween and growing up.
